The Embassy of India in Muscat organized the third lecture in the series "From Mandvi to Muscat: Indian Community and the shared history of India and Oman." Renowned historian, economist, and member of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi's Economic Advisory Council, Shri Sanjeev Sanyal, delivered the lecture titled "Mandvi to Muscat: Five thousand years of exchange."

2. The lecture shed light on the historical ties between India and Oman, exploring ancient maritime connections, shipbuilding traditions, and maritime trade. Shri Sanyal shared insights into the Government of India's project to reconstruct an ancient stitched ship based on a 4th-5th century AD concept. The ambitious plan involves sailing the ship from Mandvi to Muscat, a project announced during the state visit of His Majesty to India in December 2023.

3. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Indian community, Omanis of Indian origin, scholars, and distinguished guests. Mr Paresh Shah from the Shah Nagardas Family shared a narrative of his family's history, underscoring their contributions to the historical relations between India and Oman.

4, In the final segment of the programme, Ms Anisha Parjit, founder of the Oman Book Lovers Club, interviewed Shri Sanjeev Sanyal, delving into his insights as an accomplished author of best-selling books.
