Embassy of India in Muscat Commemorates the 75th Republic Day with Grand Gala Reception

To mark the 75th Republic Day of India, H.E Amit Narang, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman hosted a National Day Reception on the evening of January 28, 2024, at the Embassy of India in Muscat.  His Excellency Qais Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion of the Sultanate of Oman graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

H.E Khalid Almuslahi, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Foreign Ministry; H.E Pankaj Khimji, Advisor for Foreign Trade and International Cooperation at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion; H.E Faisal bin Abdullah bin Saeed Al-Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI); Members of Majlis Dawla and Majlis Shura; senior government officials; Ambassadors resident in Muscat, as well as prominent members of the Omani and Indian community attended the reception.

Chief Guest of the day along with H.E Sayyid Nasr Albusaidi, Postmaster of Oman and H.E Amit Narang unveiled a replica of the joint commemorative postage stamp released during the State Visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to India in December 2023.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Amit Narang spoke of India as 'VISHWA MITRA.’ He expounded upon India's pivotal role on the global stage, embodying qualities of youthful energy, innovation, inclusivity, and rapid growth making India into an indispensable force for global good.

The evening also featured an elegantly curated Jugalbandi between Indian and Omani artists. Ms Aishwarya Hegde and team performed Indian classical dance Odissi set to the tunes of Vande Mataram played by the Omani musical group "Scales Ensemble," led by Yousef Al Foori. "Scales Ensemble" also delighted the audience with harmonious tunes of various Indian melodies.

The festive atmosphere was elevated by a diverse array of Indian delicacies, offering guests a gastronomic journey through the rich culinary heritage of India. Additionally 'Selfie with India' corners, featuring life-size exhibits provided attendees with the opportunity to capture memorable moments against the backdrop of India's cultural and scientific landmarks.
